Indy’s Midtown is made up of diverse neighborhoods and communities, including Historic Meridian Park, Mapleton-Fall Creek and Watson McCord. Home to outdoor recreation like the Watson Road Bird Preserve, Historic Meridian Park Pocket Park, the Monon Trail, and foodie spots such as Command Coffee and Pa & Ma's Backyard BBQ. The area is also home to the nationally recognized Children’s Museum and the Newfields Art Museum. Midtown offers more than may originally meet the eye.

Homes in these close-knit neighborhoods are a blend of architecture types, from foursquares and Colonials to Craftsmans and bungalows. Illinois Street is thought to be the oldest street in the Midtown area.
Toward the end of the 1800s, the area began its initial development, as farms and single-family homes were built and small residential areas were developed.
